Next up — a booking-shaped site for cutting hair at home.

Where this is

Not started. This entry is a placeholder with a real slot in the layout, so the decisions have a home from the first one onward rather than being reconstructed afterwards.

The questions worth settling first

Before any design happens, these are the things that will actually determine what gets built:

  • Does it take bookings, or just enquiries? A real booking calendar means state, and state means a backend — which would make this the first project here that cannot be a static file. Worth being honest about whether that is needed or just nice.
  • Who is it for? Regulars who already know the service need something very different from strangers deciding whether to trust someone with clippers.
  • What does trust look like here? Bodrum answered this with a real photograph of a real person. The same question applies, and the answer is probably photographs of actual haircuts.
  • Prices up front or not? Up front filters out time-wasters and loses the people who would have been talked round. Pick one deliberately.

The constraint I am setting now

Static until something genuinely forces otherwise. If bookings need a backend, that is a real reason. “It might be nice to have a CMS” is not.

Refinements

How it changed

Every pass, dated, oldest first — nothing trimmed and nothing tidied out. The version that got rejected is usually more informative than the one that shipped.

    Scoped, not started

Placed here deliberately. The portfolio is built to show process, and a project with nothing in it yet is the honest starting state of that process rather than something to hide until it looks finished.
